Have you read any Battle Angel Alita? Unpleasent in the future portrayed, but certainly not cold. In my opinion it's all about wether you do it with style or not. Yes, everyone into a standard series of robotic shells would be bleak and cold. But life breeds chaos, and chaos breeds life.

I of course reserve the right to change my opinion on the matter after I've plugged my mind into the group-conciousness of my robot spider army.
Either way, still going to invade the moon.

On the lighter side of things, the aliens may disagree with you!

yes I've watched the "made of meat" thing, it's great, if disturbing :)

I can see your point, and I like the notion of style :) I think really I'm just becoming increasingly unable to grasp how anyone can really believe that our brain or some sort of nebulous abstract 'mind' is all you need to be human. With the robot-shell idea - I guess you might have something that counts as life, it might even be conscious, but I don't believe it would be human. I just sense something important would be lost.

Alright, maybe it wouldn't still strictly be human. But would it still be a person? And at what stage of augmentation would that line be crossed?
