I had this weird urge to write Tim and Tony meeting for the first time as little kids, and then I remembered it was Remembrance Sunday (I know you US guys do Veterans Day on the 11th) and somehow this was what came out. The title is from the poem,

I have some thoughts on that, yes, but it didn't really tonally fit in with the rest of that fic, so I thought I'd let you guys make your own minds up! Maybe I'll write a coda, who knows?

Tim's face brightens. "Can I be a bounty hunter?"

Tim looks like he's about to cry and Tony says, "He doesn't like Timmy." He has no idea why.
I love how Tony defends him. And Tim's dad is awesome.
"So, listen, Anthony. I'm not- We're men's men, you and I, so it's- I love you, son. I know I don't- We’re all flawed, don't you forget it. I just- You understand, don't you?"

I have this thing where I don't get how the common fanon interpretation is that Tony was an utterly miserable child and his dad was borderline abusive. I don't feel the canon supports that. I'm not saying it was all sunshine and puppies, just that, you know, people are complex but it doesn't have to mean Tony's dad didn't (doesn't) love his son. I'm glad you liked what I did with him.
