Hi!

Anyone with some engineering and some ship experience interested in an exciting job, based out of NJ, with plenty of travel opportunities to fabulous seaside vacation destinations? Training is available.

Somehow, I can't help imagining that, if you show up for an interview, the next thing you know you're waking up fifty miles out to sea with a bearded pirate saying "Welcome aboard the Black Tide, lad. Look sharp, now, and we won't need to feed ye to the sharks."

Oh, wait, based out of NJ. "Feed youse to the sharks."

But if you know a HPLC chemist looking for a 6 month stint in Indy, I got one of those jobs available. May go permanent.

It's a trick - get the axe.

Rocket science for the next two to five years, mostly.

I need an engineer who can go out to ships and deal with cables and connectors and foundations and waterfront trades. Half the time is getting ready for shipyard periods here in NJ, the other half is going out and supervising the installation.

This morning I convinced my department that I have enough work and enough funding to take on an external hire. The availability engineering group has not been able to provide personnel to cover all the planned efforts *and* has not found any appropriate/interested people internally. Not that I have high praise for the management environment here, but half the time is in Hawaii, with some potential for San Diego and/or Norfolk. (Sorry, lawbabeak, it's not law-related. :/)

Aw, thank you for thinking of me. I could TOTALLY do the boat job. I mean, my spatial-relationship skills are challenged, and I haven't the foggiest idea how long any given task is going to take, but I get along well with people who use power tools....

Well, there's the long hours and requirement to access the ship, too.

Sounds interesting. KInd of tempted, until I remember how much I hate being on a boat.
