Wow. You really called that volunteer coordinator on her BS, and she really deserved it. Outright lies, attempt to tell you that the very things she had said the job did not include were what would prevent you from doing it.

It sounds as if you learned quite a lot from that position, though, and I imagine it was worthwhile both to you and to the people you helped!

I did learn a great deal and it felt good to talk with folks even if all you could do for them was help them with loneliness for just a few minutes. Thanks for reading.

Oh God! people! I feel you on not knowing all the meanings of 'come' because I had a very similar experience when I fell in love with a song and then had the lyrics explained to me; I was terribly embarrassed and also annoyed because I felt like the song was so much more meaningful the way I had interpreted it. I wished that the person had let me keep my interpretation.

Oh? Now I want to know thich song that is. Sometimes, we're better off with what we think something means rather than the truth. That happens a lot for me when people explain what things look like. I like my idea of the world much better sometimes.

also, you are so much better at confronting discriminatory people of authority than I am! I am impressed and am going to try and keep your example in mind the next time something like that happens to me.

Awe! Thanks for that. As I've said above, I did it better a long time ago than I seem to do it now. Good luck with it when you need.

Self-advocacy is so important. Thank you for sharing this experience with us! It was great to see both the struggles and the comedy involved in this job.

I love that you wouldn't back down from the clear attempts to discriminate at your interview!

And yeah, working for a call center gets you all sorts of interesting characters on the other line. I can relate!

You can get people just as interesting if you work on the tech support lines for Microsoft. I did that for three years and you really learn a lot about people when you're trying to fix their computers.the different just as interet
