LJ Idol Week 5

It was the summer of 1972. It was incredibly hut and humid as it can be in west Michigan in August.  The only cool place was our dirt basement. Yes, this is a funny story, but I also feel it's sadness. I read it with more dismay than amusement, actually.

It sounds like life was truly chaotic when your Dad was drunk.

What kind of animals did you have?

I don't know about all the animals, but I do know there was a cow named Peggy. This makes me laugh a lot, for reasons I'm guessing you know.

Oh damn, this is a really intense story to read. I think I'm very sensitive to being in that place where you don't want to be, but you think it will cause the least damage and you feel responsible. I've been there so many times! I feel ya.

This was funny, in a sort of dark way...I enjoyed reading it, though, and I like the wry final line you ended on.
