LJ Idol Week 5

It was the summer of 1972. It was incredibly hut and humid as it can be in west Michigan in August.  The only cool place was our dirt basement. The sitcom version of the story finished before mom came home. And it was very much a laugh fest!

The drama version was the whole thing. And the reality of the situation really clobbers you in the face.

What a sweet, funny and sad story. (Why did not he want to use the older fridge? :) )

When I was younger, I also wondered if it were possible to use a fridge to cool the house, luckily, my dad knew a bit more and promptly explained to me that it generated more heat outside than cool inside, and if we were to leave the door open, it would only make matters worse.

This seemed funny, but it also felt rather sad, especially when I thought about it.

You told your story well, but I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Like another commenter, I read this with dismay, cringing as I tried to see ahead to the outcome. Some things just shouldn't be done, eh?
