Another cake done at work. This time I got to help with some of the fun stuff. As usual I baked, filled, frosted and smoothed the cake. But I also got to make Lightning McQueen that is on top.

Today is “Scouting For Food” Bag "Pick up" day across the nation. Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts all over the nation will be coming by a neighborhood near you to pick up food donations for local food banks. Last week they dropped off specially printed bags with information about the most important food drive of the year. They are for awsome people like ( Read more... )

These cakes were all collaborations between my bosses and myself. I baked, filled, frosted and smoothed all of them. In most cases I made all or most of the components that went on the cakes. Yesterday was my cousin's baby shower. She asked for my chocolate cake with my homemade raspberry filling and if I needed more servings my orange cake. So that is what she got. This was for a very large shower (60 people) so the cake is 13" with another 6" on top ( Read more... )

The bride asked for a simple cake and showed me a photo she found in a magazine that showed a cake with twigs and small roses on it. In the photo it looked like the frosting was not smooth, but rather showed the knife marks like on a homemade cake. The only decorations were twigs and a few roses.

I am starting to do more and more cake stuff at work. I mostly just bake, fill, frost and smooth them for someone else to decorate. But lately I have been able to help more and more with making the components that go on the cake as well as putting them together on the cake.
