I couldn't agree with you more on wanting to see Catwoman as the next, well, costumed character (we won't demonize her and say villain). I was having this discussion with my girlfriend, who viewed the film progression as Batman's initiation, then descent into anti-hero (hence Dark Knight). Yet we are wracking our brains about what the third title could even possibly be. Plot-wise, I hope they continue with Loeb and Sale's Long Halloween and Dark Victory thread: villain escalation was the fear in the wake of Year One, the birth of Two Face gave Long Halloween momentum

Interesting idea for the third's plot. One flaw - does Harvey survive? It's unclear. The three-way debate at the end predicts that if he lives as a villain, Gotham morale is gone. If he dies a hero, as Harvey Dent, then Batman takes the blame for Two-Face's Draconian deeds. Batman becomes the Dark Knight, the hero Gothamites deserve. Dent was the knight in shining armor that they needed. Gordon's speech implies to me that Dent died
