Sometimes I Think Random Things

How much bigger than normal does an animal have to be to be truly frightening? Not normal scary, like "Oh, there's a bear! That random rock looks very cat like from certain angles...

Perhaps it was a large than life demon cat that was turned into stone as per all the best folk tales.

I've thought that about alarm practices too. We have an alarm that warns us of impending doom (mainly in case there is ever a major incident at Sellafield Nuclear Power Station in England - about 50 miles from us), and it has occurred to me a couple of times that if anything major happened on the first Saturday of the month we would all ignore it.

You're right, it does look catlike in certain angles! Being turned into stone is a good fate for it. (And now I'm remembering a story idea I had in high school in which I turned our Indiana town into some sort of portal to 17th century England. Of course I didn't know enough about 17th century England to do anything with it, but I still remember it. There's a park in Mishawaka with a fieldstone wall that looks out of place there and the big United Methodist church in town looks like an English church building, stone with a 4-sided tower and buttresses, and I decided those were magic.)
