ILs Coming to Town

Aug 30, 2005 14:05

IL VisitSo my ILs are coming into town this Friday evening, staying for 1 week. I wouldn't say I'm "nervous" about the visit - I'm not exactly dreading the visit, but I'm definitely not excited about it. Let's just say that if they decided to postpone their visit for 1 month, I'd be supportive of that idea ( Read more... )

Good luck w/ your IL's. I'm sure things will be okay. T and I were discussing just that the other day and the conclusion I came to was that IL's/parents would help w/ running the household (i.e. cleaning and cooking) for the first week or so. Like you said, w/ a bf'ing baby, there's not much they can do. That and maybe watching her while you sleep/shower, etc.

Glad to hear that bf'ing is going better. It's always tricky at first.

Hi Jaz,

Yeah, I'm sure the ILs can't be THAT bad right? Hee hee. DH and I do a pretty good job of 'insulating' or buffering each other from the 2 sets of parents. Spoke to P about my concerns about the ILs and he told me not to worry so I won't ;)

Good luck with the inlaws! Hope they can help you out...
Way to go on the weight gain! You rock, momma!
Latch - I had issues with it too - cracked nipples - I think its just something a lot of firsttime moms will have to go through because how the heck are you supposed to know how to do it right without practice? Plus a good latch can turn into a bad one on the baby's part very fast. M would latch on well then slip down to the very edge of the nipple causing much damage.

But the good news is it gets easier and easier. If you just keep up what you are doing now, by 6 weeks, you will think wow, this is gotten to be second nature.

BTW, what was Alexis birth weight and length?

Hi HG!

Sorry for the late response - I just noticed I never replied to you!

Alexis was 7 lbs 8 oz and 18 3/4 inches at birth.
