We visited a solar farm north of Sendai City, on the coast which of course had also been affected by the March 2011 disaster. This facility had been mainly constructed before the tsunami, but it was built next to an LNG power plant that was flooded as high as 5 meters. Sendai
So now I'm having REAL kaiseki, where they bring it in courses. Last night, most of it was placed at the tabke by the time we arrived. The Westin Sendai as a Japanese restaurant on the top floor (37, highest in this city) and I deduced correctly that this would be awesome.

Fukushima
We arrived in Aizu Wakamatsu yesterday. Was drizzling a little, then the sun came out at lunch (we were eating on the 12th floor of the hotel). Then we were stuck in a meeting all afternoon and it was raining when we went out for the no-host dinner (kaiseki, plus local sake, yum!). I'm off to Japan
Sorry to be quiet for so long, but I have been keeping up with everyone's posts.
I'll be in Tokyo Sunday and Monday, then travelling up to Fukushima and Sendai, coming back to Tokyo 2 more nights, flying back to DC on Saturday, staying overnight, then flying out with frost_knight to San Antonio to help him celebrate his 40th birthday with his brother.

Whining
I haven't updated in awhile. When Dad came back from dialysis on Monday there was a report that his blood pressure had been very low, even though they had not drawn much fluid from him. It was like 76/42, something like that. I called Dr A who was a bit outraged that they hadn't just sent him over to the hospital. He encouraged me to page Dr T ( Read more... ) -

We now have 8 bunnies, god help us. We drove out to Leesburg on Saturday and had lunch in a nice little Chinese restaurant at a place called "Market Station," a small collection of shops and restaurants that I wish Rock Hall had instead of the "Villiage." Bunny Magic petition
Thanks again to everyone who signed the petition or spread the word. It's like it went viral... From 291 signatures to 364 in just a few days!
