'A devil food is turning our kids into homosexuals'

Apparently, soy makes you GAY! Well, except for the Chinese who must somehow be immune.

ok, that was retarded. I couldn't get past the point wherein one sentence he claims homosexuality is caused by something, and then later says its 'always wrong'. WTF? How can you make a statement about some mechanically causal thing and then claim that its result is 'wrong'? I know I'm preaching to the choir so I'll stop there.

But aside from that, I seem to recall reading something recently that basically said an excess of androgens in the womb is more or less responsible for altering development that leads to a homosexually configured brain. (am I remembering that correctly?)

Anywho...

You can't use logic or reasoning to read that sort of thing. It is all about the gut!

There are some theories about chemical and hormone exposure in the womb. I read about them back in 96 or 97. I'm not sure what has come since then.

I particularly enjoyed the hysterical claims of terrible harm, coupled with the complete lack of citations of scientific data.

Science comes from books and books come from the Devil. Get with it, Star!

To be perfectly fair, there is considerable evidence in peer-reviewed studies of potential correlations between phytoestrogen and a variety of potentially harmful (and beneficial) effects.

I suggest going to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ and doing an all-database search of phytoestrogen, then progressing from there.

Just remember that as of mid-2006, there were no published trials on the effects of phytoestrogens on mortality or cardiovascular events, which is the sort of publication usually picked up by most mainstream media.

As for the Chinese somehow being immune, it's not too far-fetched to suggest varieties in nutrient absorption based on that sort of ethnic characteristic, is it?

(Not that any of this makes the linked article any less sad, of course)

PubMed Says.... cchopps December 13 2006, 22:04:18 UTC
The Journal of Reproduction & Development 52(3) from this past June does have an article about the topic (in rats). The findings were a decrease in sex specific behavior, including a desire to mate, in both sexes, but not anything about an increase in homosexuality. This seems to be in line with previous research.

I used to make fun of a friend because he would drink steamed soy milk with a little bit of green tea. I told him it would make him a woman. Maybe I should write down all the idiot crap I come up with and say it's a conservative newsletter. I could be like Ann Coulter, but i'd be a double agent, sent to lower the GOP's mean IQ.

That said, I think that was the scariest website i've seen in a while. I don't think it was the ignorant article, I think it was the links advertised on both sides. "Next economic leader: condolezza rice" "The biblical right and duty to self defense" all right next to "Israeli leaders exposed! which has a picture that looks like the world blowing up.

MOX!!!!! I'm not saying that it doesn't cause body changes, but homosexuality....

Yeah, those sites are scary. When you are feeling brave you should venture into the right-wing blogosphere. So much hate and insanity.
