Back from Disney World
That was fun! We Spent one day in each of the four parks, plus an extra one in the Magic Kingdom. That was fun, but we were all exhausted by the end. It's good to be home! -

Here in Travis county it's a couple of bond measures and a bunch of Texas constitutional amendments (these are way more common that they ought to be because the Texas constitution basically requires a constitutional amendment for every stupid little thing, like allowing El Paso county to form a parks & recreation department ( Read more... ) -

Halloween is the final answer to "I want to make that thing, but I don't have anywhere to wear it..."

All Hallow's Read
In celebration of spookiness in general, the kids and I went to Half Price yesterday and picked up the first Emily Strange book. We read a bit of it, and then promptly went back and bought the second book, too. We're only about a quarter (or less) through the first book, but we've been enjoying it so far. -
Cute
We bought a bag of apples, and one of them was a little beat-up looking. I just gave it to the hamster, whole. She was very excited, and scampered around it for a bit before finally trying to bite it. It's big enough that it took some work to get the first few bites off, but now she's got a little hole chewed off, and she can get bites easily ( Read more... ) -
Bacon-wrapped quail
I made four bacon-wrapped quail for dinner tonight as an experiment. I think the verdict was universal: it tasted good, but getting the little scraps of meat off all those little tiny bones was really not worth the effort. Frog and Toad are Funny
Mom took me and the kids to see "A Year With Frog and Toad" at the Long Center. Given the location I was expecting a huge production but it's in a smaller space at the center similar to the one at Zach Scott that I've been to before. It was perfect. A couple of very nice young Mormon men just stopped by my door. They were friendly, and when I told them I'm a Sunday school teacher at First UU (my polite, quick version of "so please don't waste both our time trying to convert me"), they were interested in learning more about it.
