Zulu is a kickass film starring Michael Caine about the battle of Rorke's Drift in 1879, wherein a bajillion zulus fight against a handful of redcoats and it's all very dramatic. Watch it. Now.

I think I once knew the solution for the 3 + 5 jugs. Forgot it though, and can't seem to figure it out on my own.

Solution: Fill the 3 gallon jug, empty into 5 gallon jug. Repeat. You now have a 3 gallon jug with one gallon in it and a full 5 gallon jug. Empty the 5 gallon jug, transfer the one gallon in the 3 gallon jug into the 5 gallon jug. Fill 3 gallon jug and pour into 5 gallon jug. Hey presto, 4 gallons!
