On Wednesday we had a 'tally ho!'. Was brilliant!!! Cracked me right up!!! Still, there were nice little spars, and a few good runs, despite losing half the pack of hounds. For the first time ever (I think) I caught an intercity bus in NZ. And it was easy! And although the bus stations are the usual scummy places, ever the same all around the world, the people here were really nice!. Wednesday was Hunt practice day. And we took baby Willie Ray on his first real outing to show him the ropes. I came early to put his jumping socks on - he's been ridden for about 3 weeks and I jumped him for the first time on monday over some little logs. Well.... I can stay in PN and hunt for the season with my hunt fees paid, 4 brilliant horses to choose from (fighting with 2 other riders of course! :) ) but that would probably be hunting 2 or more times a week. It was brilliant this morning to see the hounds working away. Nice and cruisy, in the sun and not much scent. But the hounds were working nicely - great to see about 35 hounds just spread out all over the hills, and how they work, and all controlled by one guy on his horse, moving around from hilltop to hill, keeping them on the ball. Ah, it's good to be back! I had an awesome faire, it was great to be able to catch up with everyone, and have such a comfy household to come back to! Wasn't bored for a minute (lazy and tired don't count!) and all my plans to go to A&S classes failed miserably.
