"Just a note - since I didn't accuse him right there Luke's statement is false, unless he didn't count me as a PC, and if that is the case I want my money back. Not only that but others have said that they didn't accuse him. So either Luke is flat out lying through his teeth or other people are lying to Andy saying that they didn't talk to Luke."
Welcome to nero....People telling someone one thing and telling someone else another....
The three most commonly used terms in Nero are "Everyone thinks...", "Someone needs to..." and "I heard that...."
The irony is that if you follow the chain of any statement started like that in Nero, you will be chasing Harvey the 6 foot rabbit.
And while I recognize that this will likely fall under the he said/she said category I am trying to give the bare bones without dragging the whole thing out and writing a novel, since people have asked.
"Andy is banned for three months from Nero Metro."
Probably just arguing semantics, but this sounds like more of a probation than banning. Not really important though - just a thought.
So either Luke is flat out lying through his teeth or other people are lying to Andy saying that they didn't talk to Luke.
Of course I can't say for sure, but I would imagine that it's an exaggeration on Luke's part (heated arguments do that) and also some (not all) people not being entirely truthful. Like I said, I can't say for certain, but that is my educated guess.
It sounds to me like both parties over-reacted. Three months is a bit much and may have been best handled in person or over the phone. On the other hand, telling the owner that it is a shame the previous owner sold the chapter to him is probably not the best choice of words either, whether you believe it or not.
I'm not taking sides as I think both people were in the wrong, but I do think that the situations and conversations afterwards could have been handled much better.
"It is my judgement then that based on the items listed above that you be suspended from NERO Metro for no less than 3 months and that before you play again we have a conversation about these items. If you sit and think about the things I've listed and do not see a problem then please do not come back..."
Larpers will so often say "It's just a game, get over it" when there's tension. And then something like this happens, where people are lying/accused of lying or cheating, facts aren't communicated truthfully or speculation is conveyed as fact, people group up on one side of the debate or the other and neglect to treat those on the other side as human, and people's everyday happiness and peace of mind is messed with.
And then, no, it's not just a game... it's people accusing other people of being fundamentally bad and somehow worth less because we don't all larp the same way and don't all interpret the rules the same way.
And it's miserable. Not knowing much about the situation myself, I'm still sorry you're having to deal with this.
This is the worst thing about it. Andy hates cheaters and to be accused of such and thus banned, he feels like he has been lumped in with people like Joe Douvres, etc. Luke has attacked Andy's character and those that accused him have attacked it as well. It is something that is unforgivable.
I am aware of this. However, he has a lifetime ban; and Andy feels betrayed by people that he thought were at least relatively ok with him, and feels like he has thus been lumped in with people like this. Thus the whole feeling like his entire reputation as a decent person has been violated.
