Californimendations?

Mar 09, 2008 22:33

Ok.

I'm officially taking recommendations for attractions/restaurants/museums/shows/thrift stores...etc in california for next week.

NO DISNEY or UNIVERSAL recommendations, please!

I want some off-the-beaten-track shit.

I'll be in the following cities:

- Sacramento
- LA
- San Diego
- San Francisco

Go to it!

:)

even though it's not off-the-beaten track per se, a visit to l.a. just isn't a visit without going to the getty museum ($7 to park, free admission)...incredible collection...even more incredible views from atop (on a clear smog-free day, of course). go during a weekday, when the track is "less beaten."

you might also love the huntington gardens near pasadena...

Agree 1 million percent about the Getty. I went out there when I was in Irvine this past summer. Awesome.

Oh, and depending on when you go, catch an Angel's game. I sat on field, by the right field foul pole the day of the game for $29. Awesome if you are into that kind of thing, and since the Red Sox have won the Series twice now, I don't even think you can park at Fenway for $29.

It's a little touristy, but I really liked The Stinking Rose in San Francisco. What's not to love about a garlic-themed restaurant?
