Californimendations?

Mar 09, 2008 22:33

Ok.

I'm officially taking recommendations for attractions/restaurants/museums/shows/thrift stores...etc in california for next week.

NO DISNEY or UNIVERSAL recommendations, please!

I want some off-the-beaten-track shit.

I'll be in the following cities:

- Sacramento
- LA
- San Diego
- San Francisco

Go to it!

:)

My favorite restaurant in LA is Bombay Cafe
http://www.bombaycafe-la.com/.

I'm not sure how Indian-food-friendly your allergies are, but I LOVE their ginger infused margaritas.

LA also has the best movie theatres. I went to several awesome ones down there this summer. And a movie is sometimes a good relaxing afternoon on a long trip.

Nice! Indian food is m'fave!

:)

And thanks also for the movie theater recommendation. I have heard good things about that experience. It may be just the thing when we first get to town.

best movie theaters IMO are the landmark (they have a wine bar...and, yes, they have couches in the theater...but you have to see the film that happens to be showing in *that* particular theater...it's called the "landmark living room").

...and the arclight hollywood.

There is a French restaurant style/news right across from the gate of the chinese district in San Francisco.
It is a bit pricey but oh my god, the food was amazing.
For coffee and a pastry it is cheap and just lovely place to people watch and hang out.
I wasn't going to have dinner but loved the place so much we stayed there all eve and ended up having the most amazing steak ever.
