I was put in an interesting position this past weekend, one I have not been in for quite some time. Phase 4 of the FFXIV beta started; the last phase before early release/launch next week. And for the first time, the lag wasn't that bad. Don't get it twisted, because the circle test (shown below in previous post) is still looking like an ( Read more... )

So, FFXIV:ARR Beta Phase 3 rolled out last night. Finally, the phase with local(NA) data servers! No more connecting to Japan, no more excuses for the intolerable lag that plagued the original game. For reference sake, here's the test video from 1.0:

No real commentary necessary. I knew ArenaNet historically went hard with their April Fools gameplay, but wow! So amazingly fun and over-the-top. Then again, I should expect nothing less at this point.
