Oh, hello Sandy! Now will you please piss off in that direction?

Oct 28, 2012 16:39

Since no TARDIS or flying motorbike has shown up in my backyard to carry me away, I guess I'll have to face Hurricane Sandy head on. The porch has been cleared, the cars pulled back, water stocked up on, electronics charged, and flashlight and candles methodically scattered about the house.

Although I'm not exactly NEAR the water they are expecting ( Read more... )

I'm a cynic. I believe they hype these things up to sell groceries and gas. Although we DO prepare for the worst anyway, simply because around here, the power is apt to go out if someone sneezes. *Sigh*

I'm the same way, but the only bad thing is that my city is actually right near the water, and it ALWAYS floods over. But that's further down what we call 'Snake Road' and thankfully I'm further up so we don't get flooded out.

But all of my friends in those areas near the bays and harbors? It gets bad, bad bad. They've never actually evacuated those areas.

Everyone is out shopping like lunatics and we refuse to do so. We just have extra water and we ALWAYS keep the pantry stocked. But I'm lacking pizza rolls and Sprite and I'm wishing that I'd bought some before the weekend. *grumble*

I'm glad I could keep you company this afternoon! Thank you for the shout-out. It always makes my heart sing to know that my friends enjoy what I write.

I wish you great safety and comfort. We are feeling the temperature plummet all the way down here in the South.

Oh darling believe me, I am going to have tea--you should know that as I began thinking about the tea, I forgot the kettle was on and surprised the water didn't boil out! I just ran downstairs and nearly clipped my tit on the wall.
As I was saying...muahahah just reread Lemon Squeezy, oh how I love it!

And thank you so much :) damn the temp dropped down there too? Oh no, that says something. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

CAAAAAAKES! Hahah we actually have box cake but I didn't make it, but at this point I'll eat anything!!

Fiance said the SAME THING about where the storm is going to hit, right behind A.C. and off of Jersey. You and loads of friends are in Philly and I hope you all are safe!!

Girl, dont get me started about these NYC folks, I just cant. The Police Commissioner's son....no comment.

Well damn, if you have all of that at your house can I come over? lol!! I want some fried spam and chocolate! Ah see, I'm not the only one with the love of wine and hard cider :D (ahem, insert to ask, which brand do you like?)

MTA is shutting down everything at 7pm and the PATH trains at midnight. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Yes, we are The City That Shall Not Be Named because by Wednesday we will no longer exist...hahah!

umm... I like woodchuck (certain flavors), and original sin, and then... magner's, strong bow, and there's a fabulous pear cider that they sell at City Tap House, but it's draft so I don't know the brand. There have been one or two others that I've had out and about but never registered the brands. :^) I have several Greek wines - mostly white- in my pantry (okay, stored on their side under my pottery barn cabinet).

I think we'll be okay. But you never know with these things. Really, the only person who might be in danger will be my houseguest (going on 5 months) because I may have to ...err... contain him in self-defense of me being talked to death. ;^)

Stay safe. prepare for the worst. You can't overprepare. No one is going to think you're a drama queen. This is a bloody hurricane.

Some people are treating it like a joke, but things are getting really bad right now. A tree fell on a woman (WHY she went outside when they said to stay in, no idea), a crane collapsed and they can't get it down...yet folks are so nonchalant.

They forget water, fire, and wind-ALL very dangerous in high amounts, nothing to play with.

Keep an eye out for those naughty Elements.
It is a big deal, same as the quake here. People get hurt.
GRR at people don't listen or read.

Yes! I have my own little share of jokes to keep things from getting too serious but if people elsewhere keep saying to calm down, we're just staying in the house enjoying a day off...I'm sending them mental hexes.

People get hurt, killed, it's insane! Last year with the storm this man HAD to be working outside and a huge sheet of metal that was half his weight blew up and cracked him right across the head.

I've already told you where I work and the calls that we get...these things are a big deal.

But again, I'm REALLY glad you're okay. Tsunamis scare me worse than anything.
