Remembering back to my days of retail, the "most wonderful time of the year" was 5pm Christmas eve.  All the pre-Christmas rush was over and done, and Christmas becomes, at that point, inevitable.

Of course for me and my chosen fields of work, it meant tearing from the mall to church to do and 8pm & midnight masses.  Fun!!

Yesterday, we had Wallace's folks and Karen over for lunch.  Wallace whipped up some delicious lobster sandwiches which I chose to avoid for fear of a repeat of Sat. night's hurling. The gang minus Karen stayed most of the afternoon, and his dad and I got our asses handed to us in cribbage. Wallace and his mom are card sharks!

Last night, we went to a lovely dinner party at the condo of some dear friends.  Wallace first met them when he was working in Port Hawkesbury, 14 years ago. Bob and Sam are quite active in the local MCC and they are one of the only other gay-married couples we know. Last night we welcomed the couple Wallace and I traveled to New Orleans with in '03.  (Lousy sentence structure, but I'm feeling to lazy to change it atm.)  They loved the place and the nachos Wallace had lovingly prepared.

It's the weekend. I have a cold. That is all. 

Not much on my mind today.

• gift list is being whittled down nicely.
• we have a social weekend coming up
• Wallace's folks came up from Cape Breton for their Christmas visit with the grandkids (none of us adults is under the illusion that they're here for any other reason!)
• the deficiency list for the condo is gradually being completed

We're having the kiddies over today for the annual decorating of the gingerbread house and "eat too much candy get a sugar rush" event.
