The Girl On The Train

Jan 07, 2004 09:42

So yesterday when I get on the train, this girl (woman?) follows me and sits down right next to me, in an otherwise empty car, on a three-seater. This strikes me as a little bit odd, but I keep doing my freelance surveys and attempt to look professional while curled up in a pretzel shape on the chair. She reads InStyle ( Read more... )

Personally, what I would do is c followed by e.

A more important question: Who exactly are you?

I think that's my favorite solution, but I don't know if I'll have the nerve. We'll see.

I'm Jessica, and I was bored at work so I started surfing random friends' friend pages, which is how I found yours. You sounded interesting so I added you, and then I realized I did meet you briefly once at Moin's birthday shindig in October. I was the one who didn't talk. And I think I've read about you in Rosie's journal.

Hi. :)

Stare at her.

say "hey."

Then make a voodoo doll of her and poke its eyes out.

HAHAHA.

I think I like that solution best of all.

Now I almost wish I was going to the city tomorrow.

Am I crazy, or is it still January?

whatever you end up doing, make sure you write about it up here. this is really funny.

i can't believe your parents let you go to the city alone but don't let you ride in cars with your friends...

I will most certainly write about it whatever I do. now I think I *want* to see her again. it's very intriguing.

me neither. my parents let me walk around the city on my own, but they don't let me get a ride from HHS to our house.

I love you too. and I'm not sure about Saturday, because I forgot it's my dad's birthday. I'll have to find out what his plans are and what the timing would be. if not, maybe we could do it next saturday, unless that's too close to midterms...

Yet another person whose parent's, more specifically father's, birthday is the 10th of January.

Oh, and, first C and then D, E or F as the occasion presents.

OH BABY. Viggo in drag stalking me on a train. That would be so hot.

I think she's a little short, though. She's like... 5'2" at most, I'd say. Or maybe she was wearing flat shoes. Now I don't remember.

(If I really wanted to scare her away: "Hello, my name is Jessica, and I've noticed you enjoy sitting next to me. Let's be friends. I'll tell you about me and then you tell me about yourself. So, me: I'm extremely sexually attracted to Gollum."

You know I love YOU in lots of eye makeup (or even... NOTHING AT ALL! *smirk*).

Sexually attracted to Gollum? Oh come on, who wouldn't be? That slender, smooth body... the flexible way he moves... the way he caresses Frodo and the Ring... I bet he'd be very sensitive in bed...

AAAAGH BAD MENTAL IMAGE

Also, I finally wrote you so I can mail the bookmark!! It'll go in the post tomorrow. :D

I always get weirded out when in an empty car someone sits right next to you. It's just now how things are DONE. It's against the unspoken rules of society that anyone with a grain of sense understands. To have done it more than once is definitely unusual. I'd say get on the train like normal, but watch for where she is, and if she sits with you in a mostly empty car *again*, well, you might have to say something. But danged if I know what.

EXACTLY. I guess I can understand wanting company or people to talk to, but she never said anything, and it's still more polite to go at least one seat away. The whole car was empty; she certainly had a nice pick of places to sit. I was bothered the first day that she sat down next to me. The second, I was confused and amused. (Still a little bothered.)

I'm still trying to decide what I should do. I guess I'll have to make up my mind on the spur of the moment depending on whether or not I see her at the station on Friday...

Definately c. Probably d, just to show off. Maybe e, just because it could be interesting.

I've been told that the same sort of rule applies to urinals. Only having used one urinal in my life, I was unaware of this rule and am quite pleased that I did not make the grievous error of violating this unspoken code.

Yes, urinals! I was going to make that point, but I totally forgot. You know, you have a row of urinals and they're all empty, and then someone goes up and pees right next to you. My brothers complain about that.

I have to say, though, I don't think I've ever used a urinal. You're far more... *experienced* than I. :D
