is it bad if...

Feb 25, 2004 14:33

At the train station this morning I saw someone with a cross on his forehead and thought to myself, "Tommy Gnosis! He must be a Hedwig fan!".

Then I continued through Grand Central and realized that he no, he wasn't a Hedwig fan, and I was an idiot.

It's Ash Wednesday? When is Lent? *lives under a rock* It's quite comfortable here. ;)

Lent=Ash Wednesday to Easter.

That's why Mardi Gras--the last big party before you have to be all serious and give-things-up-y for Lent.

Hey, that makes sense! So... it's called *fat* Tuesday because you're supposed to eat a lot, then?

The only experience I've had with Mardi Gras is in Utah, when people ski around giving out beads. But I'd never really seen lots of people with ashes on their foreheads before this year.

YES! I LOVE that one scene where he and Hedwig are singing "The Origin of Love" in the car together -- Hedwig looks terrible (I don't like that wig), but Tommy looks unbelievably sexy...

For real...I think that he (that actor that plays him) should totally just become a singer under the name of Tommy Gnosis!

And totally, Hedwig and the Angry Inch is such a good fucking movie!

Haha. That's wonderful.

I did that last year. Practically everyone in my town is Catholic, so it was kind of interesting, because EVERYBODY had little smudges on their foreheads.

In a rather un-overlapping group with that of the Hedwig fans, amusingly enough.

You mean you actually put a cross on your head in honor of Tommy Gnosis? That is so ridiculously cool! Now you've made me want to do the same thing next Ash Wednesday, only I don't want to offend anyone.

But it looked so good on Tommy!

My friends and I had a fun little "let's be the only non-Catholics in town on Lent" bit. Yeah, it probably offended some people; but either not enough or too much that no one said anything to us, and it kept us entertained.

Ha, that guy totally needs to just become a singer under the name Tommy Gnosis. It would be too wonderful...

I would SO LOVE to go to a real Tommy Gnosis concert.
It would also, probably, be an incredibly cool receptive audience.
