I'm curious to hear how this diet goes. While it might be effective on some level--it doesn't sound very livable. At least, not for a modern man on the go lifestyle. Of course, I have that problem with most diets.

I'm sure I'll continue to post updates. My impression is that as long as my one "free" meal a day stays low-carb that I can eat most anything. That isn't what the literature says -and it will reduce the efficacy slightly- but I think that will make it livable for me. The weekends will continue to be a challenge, especially because it takes a few days to get back to ketosis after the re-introduction of carbs into your system. But anyway, I'll let you know how it goes!

there are several people at my work who use medifast periodically. i giggle at them in the break room with their little packets, but it's certainly effective for short-term weight loss.

Yeah, it definitely does not seem like something that'd be manageable for longer than a month or two, but if it can get me started, I'll take it!

And yeah, the little packets of food are pretty silly. Lots of "add cold water and then mix"...
