Due to my disability, pregnancy, Jim's partial disability, and a lack of a job that will hire Jim while he's in pain management (which looks to be permanent), we are unable to care for cats anymore. Sebastian's vet bill from injury treatment, hospitalization, and vaccinations, will be $430 before taxes. He is being picked up Thursday morning and being taken to Wally's Friends for a low cost neuter ( Read more... )

We were able to catch Sebastian and take him to the vet today. He is FIV and FeLV negative. He has an abscess on his jawline that burst from within. He will need to be hospitalized for several days while they debride the wound, give him antibiotic shots, and check his progress. The wound is very large and there is a great deal of necrotic tissue ( Read more... )

It's no secret that we try to rescue as many animals as possible. In the past 5 years we've vetted and re-homed over 50 cats and dogs; often with the help of LiveJournal friends and other times by running up a multitude of expensive vet bills. Scruffy was updated on all shots, vet checked, and started on monthly preventative meds. She had the mats shaved out of her fur, and was given a bath. Total vet bill reached about $200 with discount.
