The iPad? Seriously?!?!
Apple named their new fangled tablet device the iPad? Were any women consulted on the name choice at any point in the marketing process? Word association would have been enough. *rolls eyes and sniggers not so silently*

On the other hand, I suppose we should be grateful it wasn't "iLap" or "iFlat"? ...Or perhaps, at this point, iAnything sounds weird...even if Apple wasn't trying to "defy categorization."

1. They wanted something that started with a 'P' like the iPhone and iPod.
2. They decided iSlate was too old fashion and iTablet was three syllables which didn't match the iPhone and iPod. They wanted you to be able to say the word quick.
3. They realized how much free press they would get by people mocking the name iPad, but eventually they decided it would just become part of our vernacular and we wouldn't think anything of it.

I feel the same way about whoever named Hummers. Seriously? That had to be a Y chromosome speaking.
