The Alliance Defense Fund has said that they’re appealing the decision, calling it a poor ruling and saying that it “determined that student quotation of Scripture can be prohibited”. I choose to ignore this for the moment.
From the dissenting opinion “Tolerance is a civic virtue... tolerance toward homosexuality and homosexual conduct is anathema to those who believe that intimate relations among people of the same sex are immoral or sinful... But one man’s civic responsibility is another man’s thought control.”
Believe it or not, I’m somewhat torn on this ruling. Both opinions are quite strongly worded, and given the possible scope of the ruling, (as well as the reputation that Reinhardt has with the Supreme Court) I have little doubt that it will be appealed. I’m troubled by the possibility of a blanket ban on t-shirts (etc,) that may or may not promote messages of hate. (Clearly, i understand that “ ( ... )
