Whats so funny is that it happens in every single anime and work of fiction. Rurouni Kenshin is one of them, I love Kaoru Kamiy and happy she became Kenshin wife and had son in the end but yet she's always hated by people who Tomoe loyalists(not dissing Tomoe) or want Kenshin to be with Sano or someone. I love Mei and Winry(especially her, I think she's hot being a hetero guy). I'm actually the from the target audience of the FMA manga which is shounen. So yeah, I don't go out of my way to look for romance in anime and manga but I do like it and I love it when the characters I love gets the girl especially when she really cute, likeable, strong.

How do you hate manga!Winry? She's fecking awesome. She's her own person, she grows stronger alongside the boys, and she actually tries to do something when she's threatened, much unlike Kyokocertain other girls in Reborncertain other manga.

...people hate Mei? Really? Why? How? o_O I personally have no interest in Al/Mei, although I do think it's kinda adorable how Al tries to impress her. Ship it or not, canon or not--have at it if it's your cup of tea.

FMA shipwars are retardedly stupid and SRS BZNS RAWR. Some of you ship Ed with Winry, while others ship him with Rose. Okay, cool. Wait, not everyone agrees with your ship? Oh, heavens forbid!

Anyways, FMA is a manga that is character-driven instead of action-driven. This means that we'll see Ed grow as a character, so yes, we will see how his relationships with others (*gasp* even with those of the opposite sex!) develop. If people just want to see epic showdowns every chapter, they're reading the wrong manga.

WHAT IS THAT ACRONYM TELL ME.

I've come across a few EdRose fans who try to reason why they hate manga!Winry, saying she's more egotistical than manga!Winry and not as funny... hur hurr :B. They don't like Winry having development.

xD; I didn't like AlMei too much as first, but it grew on me, as did Mei. They're so fun to work with!

I guess because she isn't an angst monster, and because she's strong as a little girl :/

I know. Every story has it's own spirit. it's up to the author. hate it all you like, just don't bash those who enjoy it.

I think the reason why there's a lot of Winry bashing is because they want Ed to make out with Al. Or Roy. Or Envy. Heck, make him fuck all the dudes, but God forbid that he's straight! 'Cos girls have cooties and we don't want Ed to catch cooties!

Yeah, that's the general impression I'm getting.

I really wouldn't mind seeing Ed make out with Roy (or Alfons, or Ling, or any other male character that it can be made believeable that he would make out with). On the other hand, I find Ed/Winry equally hot.

People are too used to anime where the "best friend" can never be the "girlfriend," where it has to be some airheaded, big-breasted Sue.
But this turned entirely on it's head in most shojou and 'harem' anime! It's like the plot for so many anime that the best friend eventually becomes the girlfriend.
Unless it's shonen, in which case it's rare that anyone has a girlfriend or boyfriend.

Yeha. i just like how FMA has something old and something new. So what if it's perfect for some people? they have to right to tell us we're wrong for liking it. they can hate it all they want but respect the creator's choice.

This whole post pissed me off because I love Winry, I love Mei and I sure as hell love the idea of Ed/Winry. I also enjoyed seeing Rose return.

As far as I can tell, practically any female character standing in the way of gay love will get bashed regardless of how amazing they are. Sorry, did I say any? I meant 'every'.
