So my mom and her SO Dave were returning from a 9 day trip to Israel. Flight was due into NY at 6am today, then they would stay with Dave's daughter on Long Island for a couple of days and return here to Florida on Sunday. I knew they would be tired, so didn't expect to hear from them until later today ( Read more... )

Oh god,im so sorry to read this about your mom hun,I really hope she heals very quick and im glad shes not in too much pain and I really hope it stays that way.It breaks my heart to hear about the elderly hurting.

Poor mom! And you're an excellent daughter, that's for sure, although there are some sons who can handle that sort of thing. (My SIL, for instance.) You're right that it's better than a broken hip.

Good luck with everything, hon. Someone ought to sue the airline!

Only one episode, but the reason I'm leery about HBO shows is that they seem to take a gleeful dive into as much profanity/nudity as they can possibly squeeze into an hour, which I find gratuitous. Newsroom wasn't that way. Yay! It was very absorbing. :)

Thanks, hon. I spoke to Mom earlier, and she is doing as well as can be expected. I know the plane trip down will be tough, but then she can put her feet up and rest...

OMG! I hope things can fall into place VERY soon. Have you tried giving the phone number of your Mom's orthopedic surgeon to the doctor who examined her in NY? Sometimes doctor to doctor things happen much quicker and smoother.

The problem is between her insurance company (Humana Gold) requiring a referral and that she use only doctors in her internist's "circle", I can't get her in to see the surgeon until Tuesday. She is managing the pain with Advil and ice. If it gets very bad or anything else starts to bother her, we'll take her right over to the ER and get it taken care of that way. I told her come Open Enrollment for insurance, we're switching her to something WITHOUT referrals required.
