Took the kits to the vet today.  I was prepared for a bill around $700-800, just b/c that's the way it always seems to go.  Hell, it was $157.  I almost wet my pants and cried at the same time.  I'm so damn girlie right now.

Maddie, aka Momma Kitty, weighs 7.5 pounds and is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 years old.  She's in good health, for the most part ( Read more... )

Good luck finding homes for the kitties! My mom was telling me this morning about a feline resident at the local vets who is just too sweet for words. We've already got three cats, and any more would definitely be a no-no. ;_; sad.

It's tough finding homes for strays, especially cats! I wish I could bring home all the animals out there, you know? I don't mind being the crazy cat/dog/fish/bird lady. Ok, I mind a little, but oh well.

I think we're going to keep them...and then I think we'll find a home for Maddie..and then I think we'll keep them and just teach Kyla how to wear a muzzle. I waver back and forth all the time, but they're really winning out in the "keep them" race.

How's your bunny and your bettas, btw? I haven't seen a post about them lately..I miss the betta drama, seriously. :)

The bunny is hot. Too hot. It's very sad. I'll go onto the second floor, and she'll be stretched out under the air conditioner vent with her head resting on the floor, looking very sad indeed. It is cute beyond words, but I wish I could do something for her that wouldn't involve, like, shaving. Poor thing.

Fish drama has been considerably quieter because Emo died, and Emo's owner and I did not see eye-to-eye on the cause of death. Rex and Boyfriend, though, are still alive and well. Boyfriend has a tendency to relapse into self-destructive tendencies once every few weeks (usually when his tail fin is finally looking 'normal' again). Rex is quite outraged by something, though I'm not entirely sure what. She's just... rageful. I'll put food in the tank, and she literally jumps out of the water in her hurry to eat. o_o* I am impressed.

A few years ago, I had a dwarf bunny and during the hot-as-heck summer months, I'd freeze carrots and celery sticks and he'd munch on those for a bit..at least until he was 1) full and 2) cooled off. Vet said it was a great thing to do for them..avoid grapes and raisins though, cuz they can kill the poor lil things :(

I'm sorry to hear about Emo :( Rex sounds like she's ready to do a kamikaze..yikes. Have you tried putting a penny in her tank? Something about the copper keeps the tanks clean(er), but it also puts beneficial currents through the water and it's "thought" to "calm" them down, i.e. keep them from doing those self destructive things. It's 1 penny per gallon of water..at least that's the formula I tried and it seemed to work for my fish (my bettas were never as self-aware as yours, but the rest of my fish benefitted).
