I'm fairly new to UU. I've noticed that there's a lot of mention in our congregation and in in wider UU community as well of The Beloved Community. I know that this was one of Martin Luther King's and the Civil Rights Movement's strong principles. I take it to mean caring for those in our immediate community and the wider world with love. John Hinckley has been living around Williamsburg when he's allowed to have visits with his family.  He claims to want to do volunteer work - though some people in the area say he doesn't seem interested in working very hard - and I found this paragraph about him in a recent issue of the VA Gazette interesting.

I attended my second UU service in a row...my fourth all together. The sermon was just amazing and gave me so much to think about that I could almost feel my brain expanding! Not only that, but there was a meeting of progressive democrats a bit later on, so we stayed. That also was brain-expanding, but in an entirely different direction ( Read more... )
