Make it a few days into the new year so you get the holiday pay. Also consider talking with your boss about your disappointment with being passed over first. They might actually have a good reason. If not, then look for something somewhere else.

I think I'd agree with Jim on giving them the opportunity to come to you. It sounds like they have their heads stuck pretty far up their elbows (which they can't tell from something else) if they haven't noticed you already, but it can't hurt. Also, it might help to say "as I have been passed over for supervisor positions three times after having contributed significantly to bringing the cafe back to profitability." That way, without going into detail, your statement that you've been passed over presents the reader with a reason why you shouldn't have been.

On a different subject, I've felt weirdly stalker-ish having you on my friends list while getting passed over in management decisions on return friending. My last day will be December 16, 2007, though I would be willing to discuss options that do not result in my weakening the team of friends, siblings, and exes in this livejournal.

Wow, I sure hope you get a response from management like that! "Hey, we promoted you months ago. Wait, we didn't? Oh, poodles! Better fix that!" :) Good luck on the new job if not.
