Got back from Libby's birthday at 1am and Esme had some discharge from her eye and nose. She'd been lethargic before I left and it's cold in my room so I had her sleep in my bed to keep her warm in the hopes that would keep a respiratory infection from getting worse. My mom, who was against me getting rats in the first place, is now saying that I should get a cagemate for Esme because she hates thinking of that little rat all alone without a friend. When I can, I'm taking Izzy to the vet to see if she has a chronic infection that can be passed along to other rats. If so, then she'd have to live solo ( Read more... ) -

I can't remember which day I left the window open a crack. I was really sick and couldn't sleep or eat and I was up all night coughing for almost about a week. One of my rats figured out how to get out of her cage. Really she just figured out how to squeeze through the bars and plummet to the ground. Which she did. Repeatedly. For 3 1/2 hours last night. I keep calling the lilac dumbo Esme. So I guess the one with the white face is Clovis, the brown one is Tobermory, and the lilac is Esme. And now everyone should read "The Chronicles of Clovis."
