just remember to take advantage of the learning center (or whatever they call it on your campus). they typically offer free tutoring, writing help and such. if you feel really uncomfortable with the math, start going weekly that way you have a regular tutor and time, so when things may get difficult towards the end of the semester, you already have a tutor you are comfortable with.
Currently, they have me under 'general concentration', so I can get into the swing without too much need to get on core classes. I *intend* to go for Computer Science - Networking and Administration. However, Communications has a strong appeal as well.
Go for general concentration, feel it out a bit. I'm only going 1/2 time - 2 classes/6 credits....as it lets me work, exempts me from buying into the school insurance, and still qualifies for financial aid.
in the bay area; our "gender identity" classes includes "how to tell, when to guess, and 'what to say when you really have no idea.' ;-) enjoy school Zir!
School? Oh, awesome! I must have missed this...what're you majoring in?
When I went back to school I had to take an algebra class, too. I found it a lot easier than I did when I was in high school. I think when you're older it's a lot easier to conceptualize things and so it seem to make the algebra more meaningful than I found it to be in high school.

I'll also repeat what I said to David - I am managing to convince myself that the notations are merely esoteric magical symbols that I need to explore the Mysteries of :)
Seriously I am absolutely blown away that I even managed to get in a normal level of math. The lady told me I did *better* than many kids coming out of HS now! I'm still taking a fundamentals of algebra class...if you have been out of school over 7 years, it's required unless you score in the top 10 percentile. But it's not remedial or pre algebra!!
