Calling the hospital to inquire about MsScribe won't do any good. Because of HIPAA, hospitals are not allowed to give out any information on their patiens. They can't even verify weather said patient was actually a patient there or not.

Job well done! apythia July 16 2007, 03:22:16 UTC
As a Snape shipper, I remember hearing about some of this in passing, but as I didn't know the players, I didn't pay much attention. As the release of DH is coming, I've been looking back at the fandom and and its wanks and decided to finally see what the deal with msscribe was.

First off, I want to commend you on an excellent job! The amount of work you put into this is incredible. You produced a thorough argument/investigation with supporting evidence that was well written and intriguing. Excellent job.

As for Msscribe, I am speechless. I had to keep reminding myself this was a real person, not a fictional character, because I can't conceive how attention hungry one must be or how little a life someone must have to go to such an extreme to be noticed online in a fandom. Her motivation eludes me.

But it made for a very compelling and entertaining read. (Though I do feel for all those who she betrayed and hurt along the way.)

Thank you for all your work.

I came across this fandom biography by chance and was instantly drawn in. Your writing style and the thorough investigation with plenty of reference materials made this a very thrilling read, just as entertaining as a mystery novel!

I've been in the HP fandom since early 2002 (or 2001, can't remember) and on-and-off-active FA member since 2002. But I didn't really care about the fandom beyond reading fic and joining some interesting discussions on FAP, I didn't even get into the whole community part of blogging until I got my current LJ blog 2004. So I wasn't even aware of the whole drama at that time. It's really interesting to read so many years later about something that took place back then, just a few hyperlinks away from me.

One quick question anonymous November 9 2009, 07:24:47 UTC
I have a quick question: we know she faked those devoted fans, the nanny, and the 'detective'. You mention as established facts that this woman has a husband, a child, and is wealthy.

Do you actually know this? Has anyone seen this husband or baby? Are you sure she's actually wealthy?

It sounds to me like this woman has many psychological problems, and a very empty life if she devoted so much time to becoming someone in an online fandom. If you guys haven't independently verified the existence of husband and co., I'd question whether they were real, as well.

Sorry I didn't notice this comment until now. Yes, there is a lot of independent evidence that the husband and kids exist and I believe quite a few fandom people have met them and seen her home.
