Oh dear. I'm afraid I'm very disappointed in our mouse detective. First, he stood me up by ignoring my invitation to give me hints in one of my screened journals to help me confirm his information. But perhaps that's understandable in view of what happened next. Deprived of "Clarabella's" alleged real name and any hints as to how I might find ( Read more... )

I just wanted to thank you so much for taking the time to put this all together for (relative) newbies like myself to devour. It's great history, and I so appreciate all the effort you have expended in painstakingly explaining all the details in such an amusing and easy-to-read format. I'm overwhelmed by gratitude and awe.

(In case you're interested, I have recced it in my journal here. My journal is, ah, not a sockpuppet. But if it were I would say the same thing...*head explodes*)

Spent the weekend rereading this and getting lost in old links, and just wanted to say - nine years later! - that I appreciate your work on this! Not sure if you are still around as so much has changed, but I still remember very vividly when this account was first going up on JF.

I've read this story over and over, and so you might call me a bit obsessed, but reading it over again today I noticed that some of the links leading to MsScribe's old LiveJournals had changed. One of them is now 'constantine' and leads not to Dionne but a twenty-five-year-old Australian nursing student named Elise (the name of MsScribe's first daughter, according to the story). Putting in "msscribe.livejournal.com" redirects to the constantine journal as well, which has a single post showing about being friends-only. She has a presence on Tumblr, however, and pretty frequently.

Not really sure what it means, but it is veeeeeery curious.

and I am reading this for the first time. I was never part of the hp fanfiction community, especially the generation mentioned in this biography, so I never knew about any of this stuff. It's amazing to see all the research you put into this!

I originally came by this from a tumblr post that linked to Cassandra Clare's plagiarism scandal. The wayback machine mentioned the "inner circle" and from there msscribes. It was upon looking at the profile on msscribes that I came across your biography.

And I must say, I am so happy I did. I read it straight through, and found your narrative to be very compelling and thorough. I must note that many of the links are dead. I hope you might return to this biography to fix them, if you can.

Anyways, amazing work! This whole thing is so fascinating, and I am just seriously amazed by how much effort you put into this!

Thank you for your comment!

It only took me two years, but I have fixed as many of the dead links as I can at this late date.

Every once in awhile when the craziness of various fandoms comes up I can't help but laugh and think 'oh, if only you knew' and remember this tale. Charlotte I am very much appreciative of your efforts to keep this available all these years later!

I'm not in HP fandom and I can't remember what breadcrumb trail linked to this story, but I'm so glad I followed it. Had to dig up my LJ login to comment. This made for epic reading while sitting at home sick. Even with the old broken links, your detailed accounting, plus quotes and images, makes it (relatively) easy to follow (as easy as such a convoluted, multi-layered con game can be to follow, anyway).

Kudos for such exhaustive and thorough work! It's worth it, not just for entertainment, but as a cautionary tale: grifters gonna grift, and it's easier when hiding behind a computer.

P.S. Chances are slim, but... any more juicy details come to light in the last 12 years? ;)

P.P.S. "Notice! This user has turned on the option that logs your IP address when posting." Haha, I would hope so!
