[Sarah is humming under her breath as she approaches the TARDIS, and there is a bounce in her step that could only be accounted for as the anticipation of something magical. It was her birthday, and after all, you only turned sixteen once. She hadn't quite believed the disclaimer that this dinner just happened to be on her birthday, that it was

[Artemis walks up to her with a rare smile on her face.]

Luckily you were able to show up for your own party. It would have been a waste if all this work was for nothing.

[She keeps her hands on her hips and glances at him sideways, almost disbelieving]

Oh, I don't know about that. I think Rose and the Doctor should decorate like this everyday.

I will remember to say that the next time I have an idea like this.

[He doubts she'll believe the party was his idea since she seems to believe him incapable of such thoughts. But, it's also in his nature to "brag" about things like this.]

[She steps closer to one of the tables, inspecting the centerpiece - which is beautiful - and nods in agreement]

Oh yes, you must!

[She turns to look at him, still smiling]

And you said you didn't know it was my birthday - you're a dreadful liar, you know!

[The girl's birthday, hm? Graendal smiles as she glides up to Sarah when she sees the girl alone.]

Sarah, what a pleasure to see you again.

[Sarah smiles back warmly]

Lady Basene, thank you for coming!

I received an invitation to come. I was not aware of your birthday though.

[She holds up the invitation.]

Sixteen makes you a woman in many countries of my world.

[charmedillusion]

[She glances at the invitation with curiosity - it's just as lovely as everything else in the room - and laughs softly]

I think it used to mean a girl had become a woman in my world, too. But now it just means you get a pretty dress and an especially nice cake.

[She wasn't in the best of shape, but she had come anyway. She wouldn't have missed the girl's party for anything. Even if she didn't approve of what Sarah was doing, not to mention so many other things, she still loved the girl.

She was leaning against the wall, watching everyone's movements.]

[Sarah turns expectantly in the direction of that familiar voice, smiling and waving at Waverly once she spots her]

[Pushing herself off the wall she stumbled a bit over to Sarah, pausing to steady herself as she went.

She really didn't understand the importance of birthdays and celebrating them, but it seemed important all the same.

Once she reached her, she gave her a soft hug, trying not to hurt herself by hugging her friend.]

[Sarah hugs Waverly back, a little uncertainly, but glad things seem to be better]

[The surprise on Sarah's face had been worth the wait, had been worth her silence, every bit of it. And even if she was trying to look grumpy, Sakura could tell she was happy underneath it. But the brunette would let Sarah be greeted by the more exuberant of her friends before slipping up beside her in a lull, taking her hand and squeezing it slightly.]

Happy birthday, Sarah.

[Sarah feels that small hand slip into her own small hand, and instantly knows who it is. Turning and seeing her little sister standing beside her only makes her smile brighten, and she snatches her up in a hug.]

There you are!

[She pulls back only enough to see Sakura's face]

I knew you had to be here - you just had to be.

And thank you, by the way!

[Sakura smiles instinctively at the older girl, returning the hug eagerly, holding back on a small laugh at Sarah's good mood.]

Of course. I wouldn't have missed it for anything.

[Another smile, as Sakura looks up at the taller girl.]

It's your birthday, after all.

[Sakura's lovely, genuine smile brightens Sarah more than words can express. She returns the hand squeeze.]

Well, now that you're here...yes, it is. It's exactly the sort of birthday I wished for.

[Mat is late since he had to take care of Clow before coming but he walks into the TARDIS with a sigh. At least there was something good going on right now... Going over to Sarah, he smiles.]

[He didn't look very happy, actually, he didn't look very good at all. Glancing over at him she raised an eyebrow in question.]
