LIKE, WHATEVER AND STUFF

Jan 13, 2010 00:44

2010 is off to a challenging start. I'm saying "challenging" because that sounds vaguely optimistic. This is my new policy statement, or like, WHATEVER: when I have LJ time, I'm using it to leave comments and give feedback and such, because let's face it, we care about what people have to say to *us* and not about what they post, right? Oh, please ( Read more... )

Oh my lord, Modern Family is the best. My sides and my cheeks hurt after every episode and I LOVE IT! And each family is SO hilarious in their own ways, it's nearly impossible to pick favorites. It's definitely one of the best comedies out there right now.

And FNL, please continue to be awesomesauce. <33

WHY THE FACE!!!!!!!! I burst into giggles at your icon -- oh, Phil Dunphy, you're such a lovable tool.

(I think my favorite Phil line is when they're talking about the first day of school and getting the kids up and ready...Claire points out that she gets up earlier than him and he's all, "Oh, that's you? I thought we had a raccoon." Something about his delivery of that line makes me HOWL.)

You've checked out Makeup Alley, I take it, for the perfume?

Oh lordy, if you ever got the notion to vid Twin Peaks......look out!!!!

I've never even heard of Modern Family....but you can mention it in the same sentence as Arrested Development, then how can it not be just as awesome as you describe? Thanks for the tip as we are hungry for new shows here. Desperately rewatching West Wing, and now missing it more than ever.

Sounds all good, Chasa! Hope your doggie is doing better. xoxo

Modern Family is on ABC -- actually, it's back from the winter hiatus tonight (Wednesdays at 9:00)! I think you can stream it all from ABC's site (or procure by other means). It's a riot and ultimately very heartwarming, too...watching it is like taking a happiness vitamin.

Puppy is just fine, thanks! The leg bandages were from anesthesia when she got her teeth cleaned, so that was only maintenance and nothing serious at all :-)

I care about what my friends on LiveJournal post, you especially! Commenting on what folks have to say is a favorite hobby of mine. :) Sometimes in shameless encouragement for more Bond/Vesper vidding, and the rest of the time in interest about your life.

I wanted to make my way through all the Bond films, and, like you, not just watch what comes on the television for as long as it holds my interest... Bondology, we may call it. But I was so upset by some of the sexism--I believe the one I attempted to watch had Roger Moore in it--that I simply couldn't. I think I'll give it another try, though, just with Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan and the more palatable options.

Though Daniel Craig is irresistible to me. This is Very Important to Note.

I am recently obsessed with perfume! I was content, before, with Bath and Body Works (Midnight Pomegranate and Moonlight Path). Now I have stumbled upon Dior and Gucci and am...well, spazzing out. I am turning into a fashionista lately. Goodness.

(Bitching about school is always assumed.)

I care about what's going on with you as well and really enjoy our interactions :-) I am just tired of investing my energy in places where there's no "inter" to the action -- it's pointless, you know?

Oh, my, when I get to the Roger Moore era, it's going to be tough going! I really don't like him as Bond and don't have positive memories of the snippets of his films that I've seen. I'll try to muddle through for completeness...there's no hurry, at least.

AGREED!

I hear you. I wore the same perfume for 15 years or so without thinking about it. And guess what I have to blame for getting me into the wild and wonderful perfumista landscape? It's all that DARN VESPER LYND'S FAULT. A Google alert linked me to this blog ... )

I am reading the article as we speak (and Vesper the kitten is chewing on the buttons of my dress, fyi). Oh, good grief. Have I ever read something so poignant in all my life as this homage to Bond and Vesper's (I always have to remind myself: the humans, not the cats) choice of scent?

I am captivated by the sheer language! It suits her to a T: clean and proper as can be, but musky beneath the surface; simultaneously tender and sharp; severe, but with hints of ripe sensuality. Melograno does not suit me: it is both too sharp and too sweet for me, and I am no penitent. However, there are some days when I crave its strangely tart and squeaky clean dry down. And how can I forget: Steadily, it slips its chain and becomes larger than life… surprisingly vulnerable and brutally seductive at once and by turns, this one fairly howls at the moon before it’s done.

Insert whimpering here ( ... )

So many perfume reviews are beautifully written! That blog has several very picturesque writers. They're such fun to read (though to some extent, writing about fragrance is like dancing about architecture and your own impressions of a scent may differ wildly)!

Melograno is a summer scent for me, sweet and soprano (the tart edge helps to mitigate the sweetness, thank goodness). I do love it, though, and will want more at some point. I don't know who picked it to use in that shot of her effects...after trying it, I felt there was a real disconnect -- that's not Vesper! But then I thought, wait, it *could* be Vesper in love, Vesper in Venice...and it's Italian, so I could see them shopping and she buys this lovely, optimistic, bright fragrance to match how she feels.

Yes, drabble, do it!!!! Ha, I love that shot of her bag, which is why it's in both Pour Lui and that snippet I showed you...the vidder's equivalent of writing about it! I was working on that unfinished vid when I found the blog entry.

EDIT: Oh, and the same writer did ... )

HAI. You were going to send me links to some of those good smelly sites, yes? Not that you don't have anything better to do, of course. But you did ask! :)

I do not know this Modern Family thing. Must search Hulu.
