Sorry to hit the party so late. Not the way I normally do things, but... well, there were, unsurprisingly, clerical obstacles in my way.

Here's how it went down: last spring, well ahead of the deadline, I submitted my advancement request (to skip ahead a year -- guess I'll be the baby of the clique. If you'll have me ( Read more... )

Four, Jeff. There are four Williams as of today in our grade. But if you cannot remember the difference between them, just resort to calling us by our last names. It has worked for me.

That's four not including me, right? You'll have to introduce me to all of them on Monday, if we don't meet in cyberspace first.

Tell you what: just call me George, it's a lot closer to Geoffrey, and then (judging by your friendlist) the Georges and Williams will be even.

Well, since you didn't want me to call you William I'd thought I would not get into the habbit.

But yes, four not including you.

And if you want, I'll show you around the place and introduce you to everyone. Well, almost everyone. There are a few people who I simply cannot stand.

You can have my seat in English. I never go. And after that class report from last week I'm certainly not likely to in future.

You kidding? The more I learn about Roberts, the happier I feel about Varner putting me in. He's a walking caricature, and easy to fool. What could be more entertaining?

Hm. Tell you what, we'll both go in on Monday as new students; maybe he won't yell at me then.

You had better hope she thinks you're a William. The teachers regularly trawl through these journals looking at what we're saying about them. I'd watch the trash talk about staff unless you're prepared to defend your opinion to the principal.

Other students, however, are fair game. We chivvy Shakespeare all the time as his ego is bullet-proof.

Easy to have a bullet-proof ego when you've insulated your awareness from reality as totally as he has and your consciousness, is, um, totally unconscious

Duly noted, and thanks. No, really, I've written it down on the inside cover of my day planner. Next time I talk trash I'll have to use more indirect means, I think.

Dearest William Jeff,

I see we have CALM, Physics, and Geography together - how pleasant to meet you! It'll be so nice to actually know someone in Geography finally...

Do you prefer Jeff or Geoff?

Jeff, please. Geoff is okay on visits to Britain (too few!) but on this side of the pond the mispronunciations are legion, most often something that sounds like rapper repellant.

Good to have a friend in Geography. Do you travel much? And how was the fête on Friday, by the way?

Hello, welcome, and write for the paper.

And we have Physics and Math together, apparently, so I'll be seeing you a bit, but never in a liberal arts way. I'm sorry I don't have anything more welcoming to say, but "write for the paper" sort of sums it up. On that note, do you have any contact with your uncle's friend?

Let me know what still needs doing for the paper, and I'll help if I can. Something in world news or politics, maybe (assuming that book reviews are already covered with this bunch. If not, that would be IDEAL.)

My uncle's friend? Oh, the dean's wife. She's still up in my cell, but I may have already trod on her husband's patience with the application drama. Perché?

If you want international news: many students here hail from some part of the UK, and therefore might be able to summon some interest in pension reform or, even, the BBC strike. Though I, personally, think someone should write about the German elections and the SPD.

However, if you think you would enjoy a book review more? Please, go ahead. The closest thing we have is a general article on Martial.

(OOC: I am retarded and used the wrong journal and it will never happen again I promise.)
