What? I generally don't like Gryffindors. But not as much as I hate truly pompous!Claws (that is to say, not all of them are!). Ugh. Now she's making us look bad as a house. *eyeroll*
Oh, and actually... my Googlefu is failing me. Did she actualy say she feels she's a Hufflepuff, or was that one of the things your mom and you discussed? O.o
No, no, my mom said it. And I believe to some degree it's true. Jo is clearly a hard worker and sets a very high value on loyalty, friendship and perseverance. And I don't know how courageous she is, herself, but clearly she puts the Gryffindors up on the Hero pedestal, even when they're not particularly admirable people. She's very uneven in her treatment of the Houses, and I think it goes back to her simplistic view of her own beautifully complex world and characters: Gryffindors=brave heroes; Hufflepuffs=hardworking friends; Ravenclaws=clever swots; Slytherins=ambitious sneaks.
There are obviously all sorts of depths and shadings right there in the books, for members of all Houses, but when Jo's talking *about* the books, she drops back to her baseline notes, so to speak.
And I'm hardly ever pompous, really...though I do tend to sort as RavenPuff. ;-)
Actually the woman is reminding me more and more of George Lucas with every passing moment. Her nattering on about how DH was the best of the series as far as she was concerned reminded me eerily of GL trying very hard to convince the fans that the prequels were better than the original trilogy.
Frankly as far as I'm concerned JKR has lost all rights to Severus Snape, he belongs to the fans, 'cause we'll treat him far better than she ever has. He's ours now and she just just bugger right off.
I couldn't possibly agree more with you all. I also think JKR has a very strange vision of her own world, and sometimes I wonder how is it possible, I mean. XD SHE wrote it. But she seems to fail seeing some of the implications of what she wrote
