Feeling Productive

Today is Labor Day! Decided to go to work to make up for some of the hours I will miss later this week for Dr. appts and vacation that begins Friday. It only took me 10 minutes to get to work vs. the 25 min commute on a regular work day. It was great. I have accomplished more this morning than I probably would have all week with staff around. I would much prefer a dark office with task lighting than anything else. I guess since my office is actually part of the cube farm that makes up my department (although the nicest cube in the farm) I have no control over my own lighting. As for it being unprofessional, I disagree. Coming to work in PJ's or something would be unprofessional. Lighting is creates mood. Blaring light = headache = bad mood. Ambient lighting = calm = good mood. Task lighting also helps me focus. I am not sure why, but I always accomplish more. Although, that could have something to do with the fact that when I get to work that way...there is no one else here distracting me.

I am lucky enough to have an office that has independent light controls.

Although, everyone feels compelled to stop and inform me that my lights are off.
