there is a work world and a real world. there are real friends and work friends; with work friends it's as though you can never truly be yourself, you're forced to stay in this mold to fit everyone's expected levels of professionalism. weird isn't it? there are a couple people i've worked with that i can be real around...but those types are few and far between. especially in situations like baby showers..ha. we've had a bunch of new people coming into my store lately and i have no desire to open up to them. it's like i leave my real self at the door everyday upon entering and i'm so happy to have myself back when i exit. this, my friend, is another way in which the workplace sucks the blood from our veins.
I pretty much completely agree with you. In fact, I don't have any specific point in which I disagree. The ebbing and flowing point - dead on. Dead on. (And I, too, tend to obsess about "mistakes" that I've made, and even moreso about who saw/remembers it and what they think of it, or more specifically me
