so kaffiyas are a new element of fashion as was displayed last night at Savour. Someone also mentioned to me that they are now sold at Ardene. I was really trying not to be judgemental or critical of visibly white folks who were adorning them. the fact that i think this is probably a sign that i'm very snobby and self-righteous, but i can usually tell when people are wearing a keffiyah as a fashion statement. it's about whiteness but also about the general stupid vapid hipster vibe.
i've been noticing the trend for a year or two now and it makes me homocidal.

darlin, i've also been thinking about the donning of keffiyeh lately since i've noticed more and more white-skin-privileged folk wearing them. I've always wanted to wear one, as an act of solidarity, but i've worried that to the extent that i pass as white it may be read as trite or culturally appropriating (even though I also have been read as palestinian or middle eastern in other settings
