It was fate: every law student's computer must break or be broken in some manner. It's like a rite of passage;)
I'm sure you could sue yourself for negligence if you tried real hard. Too bad it wasn't in a common area at the apt; then you could have sued them:) (this is what law school does to you)

Haha... I'd get nothing from myself except more debt, lol. after I was done feeling like an idiot my fiancé piped up and was like "Look, Honey... mine is broken too, the little clips broke off somewhere at school, I don't even know what happened!" Ugh... Not quite the same as nearly putting your butt through the screen.

:) LOVE IT! And no one is EVER "beyond intentional torts" ;) They live with you forever!!!
PS: our school just received a mass email from the library staff requesting that, for sanitary reasons, students refrain from taking books, magazines, etc into the restrooms with them. Um...EEWW! Do people seriously do that!?!?? GROSS!!

OMG that is terrible that they actually have to post that. Must have had too many kids show up with pink-eye or something after hanging out in the library ::::::gags::::::
