So, I just got word today and aid has final gotten over to Fond Doux over in Haiti; apparently the US army came by with a giant truckload of stuff and basically dropped it all off at our orphanage telling them to distribute it to the whole valley area.  So, we're in good shape, they should have no problem holding up until we can get a team down ( Read more... )

I was debating whether I wanted to share this, but here's an email Chi Alpha got from our orphanage in Haiti; it was just forwarded to me today. We're lucky in that the orphanage has some solar power and a satellite connection; it lets them give us updates and requests even when the rest of the country is falling apart. So, I was babysitting the 3-year-old of one of the Chi Alpha pastors Wednesday. We're having a fun time, playing and coloring, and we start comparing our shirts. He starts pointing out his shirt, then points to me and asks "What does your shirt say?" I'm wearing an AIChE shirt, so I say, "It says 'American Institute of Chemical Engineering." ( Read more... )

So, I'm getting more and more anxious to start working in this new lab. It's a mixture of a few things I guess; excitement, suspense, and I guess a little "let's get started already". I wanted to have started by now...I just need to get work done faster.
