Today, I was accused of being a horrible, hateful person. I was accused of being narrow minded, a fundamental literalist Christian, whatever that means. ( ramblings )
Unless you actually think you're *helping* him in some way, why do you bother to deal with the jerk? (If you are helping, nice--I mean, I could totally see you doing that, or trying to, at least (I definitely think you've got the strength of character to make an effort)--but it doesn't sound like it's doing anything to him beyond netting him free car rides.) The association is going to chip away at your mind and emotions, and that's not helpful to anyone.
Besides, it'll give you the same odd idea of people who dislike Christianity that he has of Christians. :-\
Well, it's kind of a long story, but he is a friend. I think a lot of times we can all be jerks accidentally (or on purpose) when we're going through hard times. We really can't hold it against people when they're lashing out in pain.
That's an interesting thought that I hadn't had before though...would spending more time listening to people who hate Christianity to that degree color my attitude towards people in general who don't like religion or Christianity or whatever? It's possible, but I probably get into enough religion conversations with a diverse array of people that it's not something I worry too much about.
