Training with the special forces guys...
The last two weeks, I was out with the special forces helping them train for their next mission. We did many things, mostly clearing houses and other mout training. I've started a new plan for doing two things:
1. Improving my PT score
2. Toning up
3. Practicing Japanese
I do ten sets of ten push ups, sit ups, and roman squats (I think that's what they're called). Even though I just started doing it two days ago, I already feel a difference... -

Today started early, in the same manner as yesterday with a room inspection by the first sergeant from the battery who's barracks I'm staying in. Since yesterday was Crosby's birthday, I ended up drinking until about 12, and I didn't get home until almost 1 ( Read more... ) -

Today was pretty interesting. I stayed up pretty late last night talking on the phone, so when I woke up this morning, I was still a bit tired.
We had a lot of work for us to do at the field site, Tobin Wells. There were still three tents that had to be broken down and cleaned. We were making a nice bit of progress until it started raining

Today is the Army's birthday. There's supposed to be a big dinner, and thankfully, we'll be out of the field to enjoy it. There will probably be no napping today as we'll be taking some stuff down, but luckily, some people are staying behind, so all of the work will not have to be done today ( Read more... ) -

The past few days have seemed to melt together, mostly because of the repetitive routine we have; wake up @ 5:30, eat breakfast, fill up the generators, sham out for a bit, eat lunch, sham out some more, eat dinner, fill up the generators and get more gas, and sham out until lights out. Living in the field has had its ups and downs. Yesterday, I had dining detail (its called something else, but the name escapes me) which sucked ass because I had to wake up at 3:30 and report at 4:30. My day didn't end until almost 11 and of course there were people up and about horse playing. I felt so disgusted from the dirt and grime that I ( Read more... ) -
pulling guard
Tonight is my night to pull guard. My first night here and I'm pulling guard duty! I'm so lucky! Actually, it isn't that bad, since I'll be off of it the next few days, though I have kitchen duty Wednesday morning, which means I have to wake up at four o' clock. Today was a long day. I didn't get much sleep last night because I was out doing the wrong thing, which was seeing the movie "knocked up" which suprisingly some parents brought their kids to see. I got home last night and had to pack, which took away from my sleep, and when I woke up, I still had done the wrong thing because I didn't even think ( Read more... ) -
Getting ready for my first field exersize in the real army!
The past few days have been pretty long and filled with a lot of work. We're preparing to go to the field so we've been setting up the field area for Monday. All day is pretty much spent out in the sun and putting up tents that don't want to be put up ( Read more... )
