pH Changes

I have a homework problem that I don't quite understand how to explain. The problem states "Would the pH of a 1.100M solution of HCl change if 1.0 mole of NaCl is added to 1.0L of the solution?" I'm pretty sure that the pH won't change, and if it does, it isn't significant since NaCl is generally neutral in pH value...

Also, NaCl dissolves into Na and Cl-. The Cl- ions disturb the concentration of Cl- ions per LeChatelier's principle, but the concentration of HCl is pretty high here.

It shouldn't change the pH. NaCl is neutral in solution, and HCl is a strong acid, so it's not going to be pushed back to the reactant side from the extra Cl- ions, as acetic acid would be affected with sodium acetate.

Did this help? :D
