yes and no...technically i had planned on going to japan for 2.5 years to visit friends there...i had officially 2 months of time to plan after booking my flight. a lot of planning was done by my friends there, one of whom speaks japanese, which made it a lot easier to get around, eat authentic meals and stay at more authentic bed and breakfasts (ryokans). so with 3 people planning something and 2 know the lay of the land, it wasn't too hard. japan is awesome and the japanese people are amazing and beyond friendly.

that is effin amazing, and i am more envious than words can describe. some of the pictures look almost fake. or like they were taken in front of a bluescreen. *jealousy* id love love love to go to japan! i know the island is rather small- were you able to get around much, or did you just kind of stay put?

thanks for the comment...i'm glad you like the pictures. =) yeah, the one of me and my friend claudine touching bums and being goofy looks unreal in the background. that was a beautiful brick path to a shrine.

i stayed with my friends in kashiwa, which was about 45 mins from tokyo. we went into tokyo a lot. i mostly saw the "downtown core" of tokyo and the east end (since my friends lived east of tokyo). in terms of seeing other parts... we took a train 200km south of tokyo and drove the izu peninsula and around mt. fuji. so i did get to travel a bit. i saw the big city, small fishing towns and small mountain towns.

if you ever have the opportunity to go, do it... it's incredible and japanese people are so polite and warm (even with language confusion).
