amanda and i are headed to costa rica next week for a much needed vacation. it's going to be fun. there's been some bad reviews posted recently on trip advisor about our hotel. it had us a little worried until i got in a touch with a few people on the site who seemed like level-headed reasonable people who explained why they thought the place was

do you live downtown? i have no idea what direction that picture was pointed at. the whole grid running north-west / south-east confused me a lot.

i stayed near mont-royal metro stop. i really liked that area of montreal... actually, all of those parallel streets like st. laurent, st denis, papineau and parc ave were all a lot of fun to walk around.

i don't get the whole montreal is way better than toronto thing though. some nice things i noticed about montreal were no shops on major streets were out of business or covered in scaffolding, it's prettier and homeless people were aggressive. i also liked that people line up for the bus and didn't push to the front as if they were being left behind to burn in hell.

i like toronto better though...for now it's my home and i think the two cities are pretty equal in terms of their awesomeness.

Well, I'm sort of downtown. I'm on the other side of the mountain from Mont Royal (the Plateau), but if you were taking the picture from the Mont Royal lookout, I'm about ten minutes South, toward the water (my building is about half way up the mountain
